20 Years of Awesome

Last year’s Munny Show at Star Clipper Comics (6392 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-725-9110) was a crowd-spilling-into-the-streets, DJ-shaking-the-walls affair that would be hard to top — except that this year’s Munny Show is also Star Clipper’s 20th anniversary party. So, yeah: Expect more of everything from 7 to 10 p.m. Friday, April 18, at the St. Louis Munny Show 3.0. The little vinyl anthropomorphic creatures known as Munny are customized by painting them, cutting them, applying putty to them, warping ’em under heat, etc., according to the customizer’s grand scheme. In honor of Star Clipper’s big date, the customizers have been given a theme to illustrate via Munny: “What does the future mean to you?” Please, please, please let there be a Flight of the Conchords Munny duo to answer that question. All the entrants remain on display in the gallery through Friday, May 30. The opening reception offers door prizes, a live set by DJ Mahf and more fun than you’d ever expect from a bunch of toys you don’t even own.
