A Burlesque Safari on Film

Washington University's Visual Media Research Lab takes a page from the Everything Is Terrible! rabble with RAWSTOCK. The lab's staff dug deep in the bowels of its archives to produce an astounding collection of unusual old films, which are screened tonight from 8 to 10 p.m. at Melt (2712 Cherokee Street; 314-771-6358). RAWSTOCK draws heavily from the Harry Wald Collection, a treasure trove of burlesque films made at Wald's St. Louis theaters, but also features promos from Dana Brown's educational safari films (as well as commercials for Brown's beloved Safari Coffee) and a choice selection of anti-drinking and -drug PSAs, and after-school specials. Admission is free.
