A Day for Dogs

For dogs and their people, pretty much every day is a canine carnival. There are the rides (CAR! Oh boy oh boy!), the games of chance ("Can I walk across the yard without stepping in poop?") and the sideshows (Step right up, and see the dog who can consume an entire can of food in 15 seconds!). But while many of us are familiar with the rollicking midway that is dog companionship, there's only one real Canine Carnival, and it takes place today from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Tilles Park (9551 Litzsinger Road, Ladue). For the past 21 years, the Animal Protective Association's Canine Carnival has benefited four-legged friends throughout our region. Bring your own friendly pup, who can spend the day making new pals, playing games and winning prizes. The carnival also includes activities for (bipedal) children, contests and vendor booths. Looking for a new best friend, or a companion for the one at home? The APA is bringing adorable, adoptable pets. Admission is free, and all money raised from game-ticket or food purchases goes right to the APA. For more information about the Canine Carnival, call 314-645-4610 or visit www.apamo.org.
