A Wales of A Show

Circus Flora has been going strong in St. Louis since its inception in 1987 and this year the performance troupe is climbing new heights -- with a boost from another revered local cultural mainstay. Circus Flora's Flying Wallendas and the St. Louis Arches youth acrobats join forces with the Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra to present their musical/kinetic interpretation of Dylan Thomas' ever-durable "A Child's Christmas in Wales" at Powell Symphony Hall (718 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1700 or www.slso.org). When Thomas recorded, in 1952, his lyrical reminiscence of Christmases past in his native Wales, he unwittingly created not only an instant classic but essentially the entire audiobook format, which is still reaping healthy sales 60 years later. Tickets for the joint production are $35 to $75; performances take place at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 2 p.m. Sunday (December 14 through 16).
