Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's rock musical
next to normal is about a suburban family trying to cope with mental illness. Diana, the family's mother, has been diagnosed as bipolar and has endured years of medication in hopes of leveling out her moods. But is that any way to live a life -- flat and unemotional? Her husband Dan just wants her to be healthy, and her daughter Natalie just wants to be noticed by her parents. Lurking around the edges of everybody's consciousness is the fear that their unhappy little family may not survive whatever cure can be found for Natalie's wounded psyche. New Line Theatre presents
