All the Monty in the World

Unwilling to settle for the one-quarter, the one-third or even the rare fifteen-sixteenths Monty, Stages St. Louis presents The Full Monty at 8 p.m. Friday, July 20. The story is pretty simple: Six blue-collar workers from Buffalo, New York, lose their jobs. But thanks to optimism, gumption and tear-away pants, they find success. OK, so it’s not that simple. In fact, for all of its well-publicized naughtiness, The Full Monty is a heartfelt, moving portrayal of male camaraderie in the face of economic distress. The story has much in common with its source material -- the wildly popular 1997 British film of the same name -- but is distinctly American. And, of course, this version has singin’! Glimpse The Full Monty at the Robert G. Reim Theatre (111 South Geyer Road, Kirkwood) through Sunday, August 19 (there are no shows on Monday). Tickets are $43 to $46, and this is an adults-only show. Ahem. Call 314-821-2407 or visit www.stagesstlouis.org to purchase tickets, see show times and learn more about Monty.
Tuesdays-Sundays. Starts: July 20. Continues through Aug. 19
