Flock to Florissant

Most grownups will be experiencing a hangover today, but we don't mean the kind that's caused by drinking too much. We're talking about how their bellies will be hanging over their waistbands, and how they will be facing lethargy comparable to that of a sloth. Some adults will try to fight this moving-through-mashed-potatoes feeling by heading out early and snatching up discounted items at various retailers. But others won't find the inner strength to get up at dawn and deal with the crowds. Grownups in this latter group are staring down a day of kids running wild — unless they get the little ones over to the Florissant Civic Center Theatre (Parker Road and Waterford Drive, Florissant; 314-921-5678 or www.florissantmo.com) by 2 p.m. There, the children will be entertained by the Theatreworks USA production If You Give a Pig a Pancake & Other Story Books. Seven children's stories, including the title tale, come together in this show to gently teach lessons about overcoming life's challenges, the importance of friendship and more, all while amusing the kids through music and engaging characters. Admission to this 60-minute play costs $5.25, and if the Friday, November 28, show isn't doable, there's a 2 p.m. performance on Saturday, November 29, as well.
