For hundreds of years artists and critics have debated which of the arts truly is the finest. During the Italian Renaissance Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo verbally abused each other, jockeying for prestige by arguing over the merits of sculpture versus painting. This weekend more than 50 area and national artists lay out their arguments for sculpture with ceramic, fiber, paper and wood work fabricated and viewable in all three dimensions -- no 3-D glasses required. The St. Louis Artists' Guild (2 Oak Knoll Park, Clayton; 314-727-6266 or www.stlouisartistsguild.org) presents >Constructed Visions: Sculpture and Fine Craft Exhibition, which opens with a free reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, September 12. Ceramics artist and show juror Erin Furimsky will talk about the work and her selection process at 7 p.m. Constructed Visions is on display through Sunday, October 26. The gallery is open Tuesday through Sunday.
