Art, to Perfection

We've got to tell ya, Riverfront Times' Artopia ( is one of the better events of the year, if you don't mind us saying so. Held at the super-cool St. Louis Artists' Guild (2 Oak Knoll Park, Clayton), the artsy party offers up plenty for your tummy — food and drink stations are located throughout the multi-story building — and even more to entertain your eyes. This year, fire-performers amaze with their scorching flames, visual artists create pieces on the spot, burlesque dancers seductively shake it, and body-painted people share the love. Plus, most important, the four winners of the RFT's 2010 MasterMind Awards will be announced, celebrated and honored with a gift of some cash-money — and if you play your cards right, you might even be able to meet a couple of these up-and-coming creative, influential locals. The party runs from 7 to 10 p.m., and admission costs $30 and includes three drinks and apps. Folks are encouraged to park at the lot of the old CBC High School (at 6501 Clayton Road) and hop aboard a complimentary shuttle to the guild — and a most delightful time.
