If you're like a lot of people -- or the majority of people, perhaps, but that's the subject of a different debate -- you have ambivalent feelings about your motor vehicle. You need the thing to get around, but then you mostly love the process of driving and the unique perceptual lens it trains on both city and country. Some of your peak music-listening experiences have happened in motion, in cars. On the other hand, that car in its bully moods is guaranteed to slug your wallet square in its glass jaw; it can be costly as hell to own. But if auto-related expenses mean nothing to you while car culture means everything, you're a gearhead -- and tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. that species belongs at Third Degree Glass Factory (5200 Delmar Boulevard; 314-367-4527 or www.stlglass.com). The glass operation's Third Friday series offers an evening of automotive arcana, with a demonstration of hot-rod pinstriping techniques, videos of classic rides and muscle cars, juried car-themed art, live music and glassblowing demos (naturally). The event is free, and families are welcomed.
