Producer/writer/director Charles Band has terrorized and amazed the world with his films such as Evil Bong, Gingerdead Man and the legendary Puppet Master series. Band's gift for blending surreal humor with terror has gained him a devoted following that is "cult" in a very positive sense of the word. But he's no distant figurehead of this cult; Band maintains a strong, fan-friendly web presence (at, and he also travels the country to bring the shock and guffaw directly to the people with Charles Band's Full Moon Horror Road Show 2009, stopping tonight at Off Broadway (3509 Lemp Avenue; 314-773-3363 or Band screens the best bits of his films, talks about the bizarre things that happen when you make horror movies with characters such as Gary Busey and Tommy Chong, indulges in a little audience-participation storytelling and makes available at reasonable prices a great deal of that lovely Full Moon merchandise and memorabilia. Admission is $10 to $13, and doors open at 7:30 p.m., but you may want to consider showing up earlier; there was a line to get in last year.
