Be Your Own Fairy Godmother

In this workaday life, filled with screen-staring, paper- (and broom-) pushing, dish- (and clothes-) washing and the like, we all have our moments when we feel a bit like Cinderella -- underappreciated, overworked, unloved. Sure, it's fun to wallow in the self-pity for a while and imagine you have talented mice friends to come up with cool songs and offer moral support, but it's far better to escape the clutches of your to-do list and remind yourself that happy endings are possible. No better way to do so than by catching Saint Louis Ballet's production of Cinderella. Not only does this ballet offer the beloved happy ending, but it also features the elegant choreography of company artistic director Gen Horiuchi, which is made only more beautiful by brilliant costumes (no singing mice though; we checked). Cinderella is presented at 7 p.m. on Friday, 2:30 and 7 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday (May 9 through 11) on the stage of the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road). Tickets cost $27 to $40 and are available by calling 314-516-4949 or visiting www.touhill.org.
