On paper, we live in “post-racial America” -- an African American man lives in the White House, and affirmative action ensures that no one will ever be refused employment based on their race, gender or sexual orientation. Right? Race scrutinizes prejudice in these so-called post-racial times, delving into how it influences and impacts us all, regardless of our own ethnicity, age or beliefs. In this play by David Mamet, three successful attorneys are given the opportunity to defend a white man accused of raping a young black woman. All involved are forced to come to terms with their own ideas about race in this provocative drama. The Repertory Theatre of St. Louis presents Race tonight at Webster University's Loretto-Hilton Center for the Performing Arts (130 Edgar Road) at 8 p.m. The play will run Tuesday through Sunday until Sunday, March 4.
