Bout Time

News flash for St. Louis sports fans: Rams and Blues games aren't the only places you can catch some crushing, slamming action. It's true! Oh, and men aren't the only ones who can deliver such blows. For proof, head out to the All American Sports Mall (11133 Lindbergh Business Court, Affton) at 6:30 p.m. for the Arch Rival Roller Girls' season-opening bouts. So, sure, the teams are made up of women on roller skates, and you're probably picturing some kind of fast-food drive-up girls — let us assure you that you couldn't be more wrong. While these roller-derbiers may be ladies in their day-to-day lives, they are capital-T tough as nails once they strap those skates on their feet. The evening features two games and an after-party during which you can meet the hard-hitting girls on wheels — if you're so brave. Tickets to the bouts cost $12 in advance (at www.brownpapertickets.com) and $15 at the door. To check out the whole season's schedule and to learn more about ARRG, visit www.archrivalrollergirls.com.
