Cheeseburgers in Paradise

Back in 1969 the Beatles sang the story of JoJo (the man who thought he was a loner), who left his home in Tucson, Arizona, for some California grass. In 2012 JoJo might head east instead of west, this time in search of some Midwestern grass -- as in grass-fed cattle. Burgers, that is. Grass -- as opposed to grains -- is what cows thrive on; the flavor of the resulting beef provides the proof. Find out for yourself this evening at Whole Foods (1601 South Brentwood Boulevard, Brentwood; 314-968-7744 or www.wholefoodsmarket.com) between 6 and 8 p.m. at the Whole Foods Market Grass-Fed Beef Burger Cook-Off. The free event features a bevvy of ace local chefs vying to grill the best grass-fed burger, and you, the attendees, will be the judges. To make the tough job of sampling and judging the burger array a little easier, Schlafly Beer will supply tastings of its delicious beers. Nice work if you can get it.
