Companies Collide

Feel the togetherness

Much as individual branches of the same business do things a little differently (à la Scranton vs. Stamford on The Office), each dance company has its own style of movement — even within the same form — that sets it apart from all others. Sometimes these differences are subtle and sometimes they're more pronounced, and when two companies come together to perform with one another, there can be a melding of styles with little accents from each group that really pop. This weekend, you'll have a chance to witness this kind of cool collaboration when St. Louis' own Modern American Dance Company presents a contemporary dance concert with Tampa's Moving Current Dance Collective. The groups mix it up at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday (November 14 and 15) at the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road). Tickets are $18 to $20 (at 314-516-4949 or www.touhill.org).
