Cuckoo For Theater Buffs

In 1963, just one year after the publication of One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, the novel was adapted for the stage. Twelve years later, the highly acclaimed film adaptation would win five Academy Awards, but author Ken Kesey would go to his grave without seeing it. Kesey was unhappy with changes made by the filmmakers and disagreed with the casting of Jack Nicholson as Randle McMurphy, the Korean War veteran who has himself declared insane and transferred to a mental institution to dodge a prison term. The stage version hews closer to Kesey's novel, and this is what the Lindenwood Theatre Department presents to audiences at 7:30 p.m. Friday through Tuesday (April 15 through 19) and again Friday through Saturday (April 21 through 23) at the J.
