Dance: It's What's for Lunch

Whether you're sitting and staring at the walls of a smoky pub or catching up with a friend over sandwiches, the lunchly hour of any workday is the most satisfying part. But even as enjoyable as that time away from your desk is, ANNONYArts (314-721-0052 or www.annonyarts.org) is trying to make your midday break more fulfilling still. No, the performing-arts group isn't getting into the power-lunch biz. Instead, it's serving up a heaping helping of free culture on two consecutive Fridays (September 18 and 25) through its annual Dine on Dance concerts. These dance presentations, directed by Dawn Karlovsky, take the form out of the studio and off of the stage and make it more accessible for you, the masses. To take a bite out of dance, just bring a lunch and grab a seat by noon. Dine on Dance happens at the Market in the Loop (6655 Delmar Boulevard, University City) the first week and at Strauss Park (Washington and North Grand boulevards) the second. Pick which locale is closest to your office, and make it a date! You could even attend both concerts, you know — each one is site-specific, meaning the choreography is tailored to the individual performance space and its limitations and advantages. Plus, the Dine on Dance events feature live music, which is more than we can say for that pub you've been frequenting. C'mon outside, the change of pace will do you some good.
