Devil Inside

Here's the thing about Halloween -- the most awesome, scariest movies are never on TV when you want them to be (much like the best Christmas shows, but we're getting ahead of ourselves). Sure, some of you fancy pantses out there have that newfangled DVR, but Ms. Day doesn't roll like that, so she's taken to buying some of her favorite fright films and screening them as she pleases throughout the season. While this is a decent strategy, she doesn't own every horror flick -- at least, not yet anyway -- plus, she doesn't have a movie screen for a television, and something is lost when the scary guys are only a few inches high. Alas, to truly get her terror on, Day will have to leave the house and sit front and center for the Lindenwood University Fall 2011 Film Series screening of the 2000 re-release of The Exorcist, the story of dear Regan and her demonic possession. Of course, this tale has St. Louis all over it -- check out "Hell of a House," Chad Garrison's 2005 RFT story for the details on that. And naturally, this local connection just makes the film all the scarier. The Exorcist screens at 7 p.m. at Young Auditorium on campus (209 South Kingshighway Street; www.lindenwood.edu/film/); admission is free with a Lindenwood ID and $5 for all others.
