Dinner Music

Chamber Project St. Louis is one of those naturally good ideas whose genesis was a purely pleasurable, spontaneous one. Back in 2007 four musician friends got together just to hang out, enjoy some wine and -- as musicians do -- talk shop. That's a recipe for an excellent enough evening right there, but something more than simple bonhomie resulted from this particular get-together: Chamber Project St. Louis was born. In the six years since that auspicious hang session, the all-female ensemble has been taking classical music to nontraditional and novel venues well outside the predictable norm. Their show tonight at the Wine Press Wine Bar & Cafe (4436 Olive Street; 314-289-9463 or www.stlwinepress.com) supplies the perfect example. Song at the Wine Press begins at 6:30 p.m. with table-service dinner, followed by the Project's performance at 8 p.m. and then dessert at 9 p.m. Flute, viola and harp will be the featured instruments and tickets are $45 per person plus tax and gratuity. Space is limited; reservations are recommended.
