Fashion Fant-Asia

Let me see that barong

With fall comes a rushing wave of new fashions. How do you keep your head above the rising tide? Head to the Fall Asian Couture and Culture Event at Mandarin Lounge (44 Maryland Plaza). Featuring lines from designers such as Cathy Cleveland of Ebrada Atelier (known for her classic-retro style) and Ryan Suda of the socially conscious surf clothing company Blacklava, the show represents the leading edge of Asian-inspired fashion being created by people of Asian descent. From eveningwear to street wear to the barong Tagalog (the traditional Filipino male garment), a wide range of wearable art will be on the catwalk from 7 to 10 p.m. A cash bar is provided, and a silent auction benefiting the Aure and Gawad Kalinga foundations are also part of the evening. Admission is $10 to $15, and a VIP option that costs $50 is also available. For more information, or to reserve a VIP spot, call 314-726-3117.
