Fast and Furious Flight

Featuring high-tech planes flying at 500 miles per hour (twice the speed of your typical NASCAR race!), the Unlimited Gold Championship Air Racing finals in Reno, Nevada's, Valley Of Speed is the fastest race on Earth. Actor Paul Walker knows a thing or two about high stakes/high speed racing, having starred in four of the five Fast and Furious films, and he lends that expertise to the narration of the new IMAX film Air Racers, which puts viewers in the cockpit of a souped-up, WWII-era P-51 Mustang fighter plane for a wild ride. Pilots roar through the Valley of Speed course at just about 50 feet above the ground as they make their 8.5-mile lap, while jockeying for position in the plane-peloton. Air Racers is screened daily at the Saint Louis Science Center-OMNIMAX (5050 Oakland Avenue; 314-289-4424 or www.slsc.org) through Thursday, September 26. Tickets are $8 to $9.
