Every month, Third Degree Glass Factory (5200 Delmar Boulevard; 314-367-4527 or
www.stlglass.com) hosts an open house with entertainment and an art exhibit. But once a year, Third Degree celebrates its birthday with a super-size version of its open house. This is that time of year: Tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. is the
Third Degree Open House Blow-Out. The evening begins with the hot glass cane-pulling Olympics, when teams of artists attempt to stretch a lump of hot glass more than 100 feet in the side parking lot (please, no wagering). At 8 p.m. the Art in Flames live auction allows you to bid on glass art as it's being made. If you find yourself inspired to try your hand, you can sign up to make your own Halloween glass tile for $20 (between 7 and 9 p.m.). And there's also a Great Glass Pumpkin Sale, Charlie Brown, with dozens of handmade glass gourds. All this, set to the music of City Folk, with complimentary eats courtesy of Bryan Young Catering Plus — and free admission! You can't beat that, so you may as well join it.
