You know, Björk isn't the only musician to come out of the magical land that is Iceland. Why, the Compton Heights Concert Band has brought Sigrun "Diddú" Hjalmtydottir here four times, and this soprano, who has sung with the Iceland Opera and on A Prairie Home Companion (seriously!), returns for her fifth run with the band on Sunday and Monday (July 5 and 6). Hear what else, musically speaking, the island nation has to offer at these concerts, both of which begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday's show is in Francis Park (Eichelberger Street and Donovan Avenue); Monday's is at Tower Grove Park (4256 Magnolia Avenue). All concerts are free, but it might be nice if you considered making a donation. Call 314-776-2227 or visit www.chband.org to learn more about these concerts and the rest of the band's season.
