Fighting for A Cause

Thanksgiving has few traditions to its credit other than gluttony and football. In St. Louis, however, there's also a long and proud tradition of fighting on Thanksgiving eve. That's right, it's time once again for the Budweiser Guns 'N' Hoses. This annual night of boxing pits teams of city and county police officers against teams of firefighters in three-round matches. New this year are a sprinkling of MMA bouts among the boxing, but the tradition of donating the proceeds to the BackStoppers continues unchanged. Save thanksgiving for Thanksgiving, and go support the men and women who are there for us when something horrible happens. The fights start at 7 p.m. tonight at Scottrade Center (1401 Clark Avenue; 314-622-5400 or www.stlgunsnhoses.com). Tickets are $2 to $27.
