Film Fantastic

In the midst of Clooney mania, it's difficult to tell if St. Louisans have developed an even greater fondness for film — or just an affection for Hollywood glamour and Tinseltown's handsome, handsome men (Clooney, of course, is one of the prime examples of incredible, heart-stopping handsomeness; Jason Bateman ain't too shabby himself). No matter the reason(s), folks are paying more attention to the movies these days, and just in time for the fifth annual Italian Film Festival of St. Louis. Held in Room 100 in Brown Hall on Washington University's campus (Forsyth Boulevard and Chaplin Drive), this three-weekend-long tribute to silver-screen offerings of the boot-shaped country kicks off at 8 p.m. Friday, April 10, with a screening of 2007's La Giusta distanza (pictured), which was nominated for several awards last year. The fest continues Friday and Saturday nights through Saturday, April 25, and admission is free. To see the list of all films being screened, visit www.italianfilmfestivalstlouis.com.
