Fragile Porcelain Rocks!

Precious Moments play some hott lixx in Arnold

Rock & roll is many things to many people. Its hot-loud-raw-dirty-powerful vibe stirs something in fans' guts when they hear it. And that something is even more intense when they actually see rock. Watching a great band bring its raucous sound live and in person is just so, well, cool. And it's great that bands still tour despite all the record-company shenanigans and corporate badness that affect popular rock & roll today. One group that has been able to stay above the fray and keep focused on what's important is PM Rocks! Its summer show is finally gonna be playing St. Louis. And for free, too!

Wow! A free show! So wait, what is PM Rocks!? Well, it's the Precious Moments all-girl five-piece band, of course. This collective's main purpose is to help young girls learn that friends are important and that ladies can rawk too (just like Jem, the truly outrageous one, taught you). The bass guitarist (a.k.a. "Friends Let You Be You") lays down some swe-ee-eet funk for her pals, and the keyboardist ("Express Who You Are and You'll Be a Star") really knows her way around the ivories. And don't forget the bespectacled lead singer. Her nickname, "Be You and the Rest Is Cool," is a phrase that the drummer and guitarist also live by.

All right, so PM Rocks! isn't a real band but merely a collectible porcelain-bisque figurine one. You can still be cool and go. Take your little sis, a pre-teen cousin or your niece. The girls will get to dress up diva-style and lip-sync and dance on stage. And there are a couple actual "rock" elements to this: The VH1 Save the Music Foundation (which supports music education) will receive a portion of the proceeds for every figurine purchased, and your tween can get registered to win some tight stuff, such as four tickets to Z100's Jingle Ball in NYC.
