Garbage Bag Gala

If you're the type of person who likes to dress to be noticed, in a fashion-forward sort of way, you have no shortage of clothiers in the St. Louis metro who can kit you out. But what if you care just as much about the environment as outward frivolities? That makes you a worthy fashion plate, the sort who should attend the fourth annual Garbage Bag Gala. This fashion show is designed to be a clarion call for action on preventing further environmental damage; at the same time, it raises funds for and boosts awareness of area homeless men, women and children. The duds on parade are created by seventeen St. Louis designers, and everything is made out of recyclable materials. Chuck off your jorts, get into something kicky and show up at Mercedes-Benz of St. Louis (1048 Hampton Avenue; 314-646-3017 or www.stlsalvationarmy.org) for the gala, which runs from 7 to 10 p.m. tonight. Tickets are $25.
