Get Your Chalk On

Due to inclement weather, the Chalk Festival has been postponed, with the rain date set for September 2. Check Craft Alliance's Facebook page for updates. Original post follows: Those who lament the days when lovingly crafted chalk doodles -- nay, masterpieces -- on driveways of childhood homes went unnoticed before fading away now have a second chance to show off their pastel etchings. The Delmar Loop’s second annual Chalk Festival will beautify the busy strip today beginning at 9 a.m. Participating artists will check in at Chuck Berry Plaza (Delmar Boulevard and Centennial Greenway Bike Path, University City). Spectators are welcome to watch art in progress while multitasking a day of lunch and shopping. This family-friendly event is open to chalk fans of all ages, with a sign up fee of $10 for adults, $8 for students (ages thirteen to eighteen) and $4 for children under twelve and four categories for a chance to win a prize. For more information or to sign up, call Blick Art Materials at 314-862-6980 or visit www.visittheloop.com.
