Go Eco-Chic

You know, dear eco-conscious reader, from recycling. You don't just gather your aluminum, glass and plastic items and turn them out into the bins for removal. You also compost, collect corks from your wine bottles, live by reusable shopping bags and opt not to get your receipt when paying for gas and other items. Yep, you sure do have a green glow about yourself — but, of course, you could be living greener still. Instead of driving to work, you could ride your bike. And instead of buying new clothes to wear to that office of yours, you could buy recycled, er, vintage ones. In case a little inspiration is needed to get you to go eco-friendly with your wardrobe (we'll save the biking conversation for another day), the Hope Couture Vintage Fashion Show ought to provide more than enough. Held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Contemporary Art Museum St. Louis (3750 Washington Boulevard), this fashiony fundraising event — proceeds benefit Boys Hope Girls Hope — features styles from Penny Rae Vintage, Borough Vintage Classic Boutique, Eve's Apple Vintage, It Boutique & More and the Vintage Haberdashery, all sent down the runway with some modern twists. To round out the evening, West African dance company Afriky Lolo performs, and there's a silent auction. Tickets for the show cost $25 to $75 (call 314-692-7477, extension 26); visit www.boyshopegirlshope.org to learn more about the evening's beneficiary.
