People would like to be remembered at their best, and for the Tenenbaum family, that was quite some time ago. In Wes Anderson's 2001 film The Royal Tenenbaums, we meet the family at arguably their worst. Patriarch Royal Tenenbaum is being evicted from the hotel where he lives -- and has lived since leaving his family some twenty years prior. He learns that his estranged wife Etheline has taken up with the family's accountant, Henry Sherman, and hatches an ill-conceived plan to get back into his family's good graces (and also their fantastical home). His intentions aren't pure or valiant, and yet in reconnecting with his wife, three children and two grandchildren, he helps move his family toward a more positive future. The Royal Tenenbaums screens tonight at 8 p.m. as part of the Webster University Film Series in Webster University's Moore Auditorium (470 East Lockwood Avenue; 314-968-7487 or www.webster.edu/filmseries).
