All good things must end, and so tonight at midnight, the Mardi Gras season is over. Our little Gomorrah on the Mississippi turns back into a quiet pumpkin, a city where no one eats meat on Friday, no one drinks and no one wears gaudy purple and green beads (only one of those statements is true). The end of Mardi Gras means nothing to us in the long run, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't get in your last public hurrah at the
Lumière Place Light Up the Night Fat Tuesday Parade. The marchers and floaters line up for one last bead-fling at 7 p.m. near Lumière Place (999 North Second Street;
www.mardigrasinc.com), and then work their way through downtown for the next few hours. As you may suspect, many of the neighboring bars and taverns will be eagerly awaiting your presence in the aftermath, or during the math; it's still Mardi Gras for a few more hours, so if you need to pop in for drink or two while the parade's under way, no one will look at you askance.
