Happy Hunting, Mr. Vice Pezident

Oct 11, 2006 at 4:00 am
Catch the meaning of life, see the Virgin of Guadalupe come down from the sky, follow Bush and Cheney on a quail hunt: It all happens in Pez Puppet Theater this evening at Christman Studios (6014 Kingsbury Avenue; 314-862-2541). Accordion player and folk artist Steve White casts Jesus, Buddha, the Devil and other characters (all Pez dispensers modified by White) in a series of 90-second puppet shows that explore topics such as immigration (which involves President Bush and six Mexican immigrants in a cage match), domestic violence and the aforementioned quail hunt. White's tales are part fable, part morality play and part goofy kid making up stories to entertain himself. White performs between sets by the Landis Martin Trio, and he sells his creations after the show. Doors open at 8 p.m., admission is $5, and clips of White's work are available online at www.thefolkfarm.com.
