Have Your Cake

And celebrate it, too

A cake is a splendid thing — it's trotted out to commemorate wonderful life events (birthdays and weddings immediately come to mind), and it usually involves glorious icing. But through all of our cake-enjoying, we've missed something very important: This baked good itself deserves to be feted, not just celebrated around. So give the confection its just desserts at Over the Top for Tots. This ladies-luncheon fundraiser for the Crisis Nursery Saint Charles (www.crisisnurserykids.org) features not only a viewing of "extravagant cake concepts" but also a sampling session of these treats! Plus, you can see a fashion show, take part in a live auction and become inspired by more than twenty designer-decorated tables. The event runs from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel (2 Convention Center Plaza, St. Charles). Tickets cost $40 per person, and ordering them by the weekend is advised; call 636-940-0748 to make a purchase.
