Hell-Bent for Leather

The leather sash representing the Mr. Midwest Leather contest is up for grabs once again, and it's a position that isn't won, but rather earned through head-to-head competition. Tonight at 10 p.m. at Bad Dog Bar & Grill (3960 Chouteau Avenue; www.midwestleatherweekend.com), worthy contestants compete in three categories. The first, bar wear, requires the men to don their sexiest outfit. The pecs and personality category involves wearing the legal minimum while answering spontaneous questions from the judges. The capstone of the pageant is the full leather speech event, when the contestants deliver a 90-second speech while wearing full leather attire. The winner will then represent the leather community for one year, raising funds for charity. Admission is $10 for spectators. In addition to the pageant, the show's official leather artist, Jerry of Branded Leather, will be selling items and taking orders, and there will be a silent auction of leather goods and related merchandise.
