For horror film aficionados, a doll coming to life creates a terrifying situation, full of mayhem and much worse. But when this rare phenomenon occurs within the realm of ballet, the results are generally far more enjoyable. There's the living, fighting, dancing nutcracker, of course, and there's also the doll in Coppelia. So stunning is she, that men fall for her and ladies eye her with envy -- but is she truly alive, and can she dance, you ask? To see what comes of the lovely Coppelia and to find out if she-so-fair spoils the love between Franz and Swanilda, get to the Touhill Performing Arts Center on the University of Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Boulevard at Natural Bridge Road) for Alexandra Ballet's presentation of her story.
