He's a Fuel for the City

Are the odds stacked too high against us in St. Louis? (Public schools, crime stats — you know the score.) Thankfully, there are enough folks, like those in the civic organization Fuel, who say no. Fuel is a volunteer group of young professionals dedicated to improving the city, and it's turning two this month. Help celebrate the occasion with a free cocktail party today at Lucas School House (1220 Allen Avenue; 314-621-6565). It starts at 6:30 p.m. and features free appetizers, plus a complimentary "rum-tini" for those 21 and older — and at 6:45 p.m., there'll be a presentation by Mayor Slay. One can only hope this presentation involves tips on the hully-gully. Visit www.fuelforthecity.org for further information.
