Hey, Mr. DJ!

Parenting hits the stage

The life of a DJ is pretty sweet. Free CDs arrive en masse each day. The hottest nightclubs invite you out to spin. Yep, life is one big music-fueled party — or is it? What about the downsides: the erratic hours, the FCC regulations, the 439 daily requests to hear “Love in This Club”? And what if you’re juggling all this as a single dad? Beloved local personality Tony J! (of Hot 104.1 FM “Traaaaffic!” fame, pictured) tackles these questions in My Daddy’s a DJ, a hip-hop-infused play about how he balances four kids and a demanding DJ gig. The play, written and directed by Henry L. Davis, also features the talents of Jibbs, Ruka Puff, Nikko Smith and others. Treat your own dad to this funny, sweet portrayal of fatherhood tonight at 7 p.m. My Daddy’s a DJ takes the stage at Central Visual & Performing Arts High School (3125 South Kingshighway Boulevard); tickets are $10 for students and $15 for the general public.
