Laumeier Sculpture Park, as the name implies, specializes in displaying sculptural art. For Electric is the Love, the new installment of the Kranzberg Exhibition Series, curator Dana Turkovic selected intangible and invisible sculptures created by local artists Eric Hall, Robin Assner and Adam Watkins, Dave Derington and others. Their constructions exist in the digital realm, as in Assner and Watkins' Electric is the Love didactic video collaboration, or are built from musical notes and sound waves, as in Hall's audial architecture. These works combine the worlds of virtual reality and advanced technology with the theoretical worlds of conceptual art to bring the purity of the concept to existence without the interface of the material world. There is no object, but the art exists nonetheless; just like electricity, you can't see it but you can see the results of its existence. Electric is the Love opens with a free public reception from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday, October 29, at Laumeier Sculpture Park (12580 Rott Road, Sunset Hills; 314-615-5278 or www.laumeier.org). The exhibition continues through Sunday, January 22, and the Laumeier's gallery is open Wednesday through Sunday. Admission is free.
