Hillbilly Pirates Press On

You won't be printing your own money, but if you're in the market for some dirt-cheap, high-quality artwork, attending Cannonball Press' Anything for a Buck art show is your next best bet. Martin Mazorra and Mike Houston, New York's self-proclaimed "World Kings of scruffy pirate black-and-white hillbilly printmaking," founded Cannonball Press in 1999 to offer affordable prints by like-minded artists to the world at large. Tonight at 8 p.m., Cannonball lands at Mad Art Gallery (2727 South Twelfth Street; 314-771-8230 or www.madart.com) and raise their Jolly Roger amidst a "tent city" installation of eighteen hand-printed tents sprawled across the gallery. More traditional paper-based prints start at just $20. Anything for a Buck remains on display by appointment through Wednesday, April 13.
