Winter holidays inevitably mean throwing around some money to prove your love, or at least an acknowledgment of ceremony. Depleting pockets to promote local business, however, makes it a much cheerier tradition. Today from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. the Cherokee Print League hosts its fifth annual holiday print sale featuring works by local and regional printmaking, letterpress, screen printing and printed fabric artists. In addition to a wide selection of wares, this sale happening on and around Cherokee Street will find artists sharing art demonstrations, customized printing, on-site framing and more. Participating galleries and shops include Aisle 1 Gallery (2627 Cherokee Street), Paper Boat Studios, Foam Coffee and Beer, Fort Gondo Compound for the Arts, The Firecracker Press, Apop Records and many more. Pick up your official Cherokee Print League Passport (which also doubles as a map of the neighborhood) at any stop along the way -- it also includes discounts at some restaurants along the route.
