Arnold Lobel's popular series of Frog and Toad books endure because childhood endures. The easygoing Frog and the irritable Toad are mismatched personalities, but they like each other despite their occasional squabbles. In A Year with Frog and Toad, Robert Reale and Willie Reale's stage adaptation of the story, the two friends eat soggy sandwiches, plant seeds, go swimming, sing about cookies and share the excitement of receiving a letter. These small happinesses are what makes life worth living, especially when you can experience them with a friend. The Road Company presents A Year with Frog and Toad at 7 p.m. Friday, 3 and 5 p.m. Saturday, and 1:30 and 3:30 p.m. Sunday (February 26 through 28) at the Center of Creative Arts (524 Trinity Avenue, University City; 314-725-6555 or www.cocastl.org). Tickets are $18 to $22.
