Short films are analogous to poems; the economy of time results in an artful compression of subject matter that lends maximum impact to the story. The
St. Louis Filmmakers Showcase celebrates the poetry of these little gems with two separate programs of shorts today at the Tivoli Theatre (6350 Delmar Boulevard, University City; 314-289-4150 or
www.cinemastlouis.org). At 5 p.m., the Documentary Shorts installment presents six films, including Bad Folk Story, Zlatko Cosics history of the band Bad Folk and Randy Shinns Pornoland, a look at pornographys place in America. At 9:30 p.m., the Dramatic Tension program screens ten films, and we cant wait to see Peter Carlos vampires vs. werewolf story, Tooth and Nail. Admission is $8 to $10 for each session.
