Arnold Newman: Luminaries of the Twentieth Century in Art, Politics and Culture This greatest-hits survey of renowned photographer Arnold Newman's iconic portraits is a tour of the 20th century's finest human specimens. So often seen in magazine reproduction, these intimately scaled images prints of culture's major players are a thrill to inspect closely. Igor Stravinksy leans against a sleek black grand piano; Picasso mugs with his penetrating, weathered, ravenous gaze; Robert Moses stands, hands on hips, firmly astride a lofty I-beam with the whole of New York City minuscule beneath him — in image after image, each subject's artistic and intellectual gifts appear as though etched into his physical being.
