Each autumn we set aside an issue to give the St. Louis arts community an affectionate, celebratory bear hug -- and a big pile of cash to further their creative endeavors. The tradition continues this year with our fifth annual Mastermind Awards and Artopia, a massive party at 2720 Cherokee (2720 Cherokee Street; 314-664-9900) featuring fine local art in myriad forms.
Experience live music, cultural dance performances, fashion shows and painting demonstrations, and consume art of the culinary variety with free food and drink samples -- it's all included in the cost of your ticket. Meanwhile, food trucks and performers will line Cherokee Street for a corresponding outdoor festival. The evening culminates in the awards presentation for our 2012 Mastermind winners, who will each receive a $1,000 grant and be featured in the pages of the August 23 issue of the Riverfront Times.
