All right, fellow humans. It's time we stopped looking at glowing boxes all of the time and started seeing things in our actual space. (And if you're reading this in the newspaper version of the
RFT, your ink-covered fingers could use a break as well.) An art show, such as the fall exhibit at the Saint Louis University Museum of Art (3663 Lindell Boulevard; 314-977-2666 or
sluma.slu.edu), might be the best source of proverbial eye candy for those ol' peepers.
Max Scharf: Radiant Harmonies opens with a reception from 5:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, September 4, and this St. Louisan's works should provide ample — and colorful — stimulation.
Take Happy Times at Giverny as an example. This painting's shaky thin lines manifest in hues that cover the spectrum and nearly vibrate and pulse straight off of the canvas, evoking a sense of electricity and fluidity that you thought only the boob tube could provide. Yeah, believe it or not, art can be more compelling than
Dancing with [
Fill in the Blank].
Radiant Harmonies remains on view Wednesday through Sunday until Sunday, October 18.
Wednesdays-Sundays. Starts: Sept. 4. Continues through Oct. 18, 2009
