Kinky Boots

Charlie Price is muddling through (barely) in the English East Midlands town of Northampton. The shoe factory he inherited from his father is failing; there's not enough demand for the staid men's shoes the firm specializes in. Salvation comes in the guise of a drag queen named Lola and the factory's introduction of a new -- and more profitable -- line in a wee bit more adventurous footwear inspired by Lola's sense of style. The musical Kinky Boots, boasting the twin credits of Harvey Fierstein and Cyndi Lauper, was adapted for the stage from the 2005 film of the same name. It opens an extended run at the Fox Theatre this week.

Tue.-Sun. (Mar. 24-Apr. 5). Fox Theatre (527 North Grand Boulevard; 314-534-1678 or www.fabulousfox.com). $25 to $90.
Tuesdays-Fridays, 8 p.m.; Saturdays, 2 & 8 p.m.; Sun., March 29, 1 & 6:30 p.m.; Thu., April 2, 1 p.m.; Sun., April 5, 1 p.m. Starts: March 24. Continues through April 5, 2015
