Green grass is sprouting; green leaves are budding. Spring is here, and its signature color is popping up all over. But the most welcome arrival just might be the food. Spotting the first tender bunch of baby spinach or a bouquet of crisp asparagus is a bit like stepping into Oz. After a long bleak winter, everything's in Technicolor again. Thankfully, the Kirkwood Farmers' Market (150 East Argonne Drive, Kirkwood; 314-822-0084 or www.downtownkirkwood.com) is now in its 34th season. In addition to produce galore, you can find meats, cheeses, breads, flowers and more from a number of local providers — no yellow brick road required. The market will be open for business Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Sunday hours vary by vendor. The Kirkwood Farmers' Market remains active through Saturday, September 25.
