Peregrine Honig started her professional career with a bang, becoming the youngest artist to have work in the Whitney Museum of American Art's permanent collection at age 22. Since then she has continued to create prints, drawings and sculptures that explore her fascination with society's demand for beautiful people, social anxiety wrought by mass media and the visual manifestation of diseases both physical and mental. Laced is her first solo show in St. Louis, and it features paintings and prints made during Honig's residency in Argentina. Laced: Peregrine Honig opens with a free public reception from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, January 24, at Gallery 210 on the University Missouri-St. Louis campus (1 University Drive at Natural Bridge Road; 314-516-5976 or gallery210.umsl.edu). The show remains up through Saturday, March 23, and the gallery is open Tuesday through Saturday. Admission is free.
