Look What the Wind Blew In

Mary Poppins is proof that the more things change, the more they stay the same. The Disney musical is set in the Edwardian era, and features unruly children who won't mind their parents, a mother who's fighting for the rights of women, a father who works at a bank that experiences a financial crisis, and a gun nut who lives down the street. Sounds familiar, no? Into that chaos floats Mary Poppins, the nanny who is "practically perfect in every way." Mary uses a unique combination of stern disapproval, songs and magic to fix everyone's problems before she blows out of town again. Disney's Mary Poppins: The Musical swoops into summer at 8:15 p.m. Thursday through Friday (July 25 through August 2) at the Muny in Forest Park (314-361-1900 or www.muny.org). Tickets are $12 to $80.
